Norris Reveals a Chrome Silverstone Helmet
F1 · Helmet Reveal · British Grand Prix
McLaren has revealed Lando Norris’s special helmet for his home race — “some special chrome blobs” laid over his signature neon base for the 2026 British Grand Prix at Silverstone.
Chrome blobs over the neon
Norris keeps the fluorescent lime-green base that has become his trademark, but this time it is almost swallowed by a pattern of liquid, mirror-chrome “blobs” that swirl across the whole shell. The reflective silver-and-blue shapes catch the light like spilt mercury, and McLaren leaned into exactly that when it announced the design: “Some special chrome blobs for his home race.”
A black band around the visor carries the familiar run of sponsor marks, and his race number is picked out in Union Jack colours — a nod to the home crowd waiting at Silverstone. The painter behind the finish has not been publicly credited.

A home-race one-off
Silverstone always brings out something extra from the British drivers, and a special helmet is part of the ritual. For Norris, the chrome treatment is a one-off layered over the look he runs the rest of the year — recognisable at a glance, but unmistakably built for one weekend.
From a collector’s point of view, that is what makes a home-race helmet worth watching: it captures a specific moment and a specific place, the kind of detail that stands out on a display shelf next to a driver’s standard designs.
